Before BAKTAVA had a name, it had a legacy.

Our story began in 1960 when my grandfather, Muhammad Sardar, devoted his life to the art of jewellery. From a modest workshop, he designed, crafted, and sold fine gold jewellery directly to his clients—creating everything from bridal sets and necklaces to bangles, rings, and earrings. His work extended beyond gold, incorporating diamonds and precious gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. For him, jewellery was never simply an ornament. It was craftsmanship, trust, and a deeply personal expression of beauty. Piece by piece, client by client, he built a reputation founded on quality, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail.

In 1996, the legacy was entrusted to my father, Tahir Abbas.

While honouring the foundations laid before him, he expanded the business beyond manufacturing and retail. Through importing and exporting jewellery from around the world, he brought new designs, techniques, and inspirations to our customers whilst preserving the standards of craftsmanship that had defined our family for decades. Growing up, jewellery was never just a business to me. It was a part of our family’s everyday life. I watched designs come to life, gemstones being selected, pieces being crafted by hand, and relationships being built through trust and dedication. I inherited not only a business, but a passion that had already been shaped by two generations before me.

Today, that journey continues with BAKTAVA.

BAKTAVA is not the beginning of our story—it is the next chapter. A new name that carries forward more than six decades of experience, craftsmanship, and dedication. It is a reflection of where we come from and where we are going. From designing and curating exceptional jewellery to sourcing remarkable pieces from around the world, we remain committed to the values that have guided our family since 1960: craftsmanship, quality, authenticity, and timeless design.

For over six decades, jewellery has been more than our profession—it has been our family’s craft, our passion, and our legacy.
